(And so she does. Sometime after the discussion, when Red's waiting on the roof, he'll hear heavy wingbeats closing in. Sure enough, the sight of the star patterned dragon comes into view as she delicately touches down near him, looking notably anxious.)
[Anxiety wasn't the sort of expression he ever could have envisioned on a dragon, and that was almost as much of a shock as it was to realize he nonetheless recognized that... gentle nature behind Tilly's gaze. Massive, celestial draconic form notwithstanding, how could he not have recognized it sooner...?
But there she was. He'd looked at this starry-scaled dragon twice already, but somehow it felt like this was the first time he'd seen her.
...and he was trying very, very hard to not recall the size of her teeth.]
(The dragon, celestial as she may appear, is ducking her head down sheepishly. Her voice, different because of her current form, is recognizable to Red. He deserves an explanation, he really does. There's a lot she wants to say, but nothing is coming up. Especially now, when when his emotions are running justifiably high.
Even with the dragon sinking into herself, the difference in size keeps her looking down at her roommate.)
[That look... however proud and mighty her form may have been, that... softness, that sheepish modesty she carried with her that only occasionally bubbled to the surface was all too familiar, and so readily apparent that he could see past the... mouth.
I'm sorry, Red. I...I wanted to tell you; I really did. I just didn't know how, especially as we got to know each other better and moved in together and...
(Her words trail off. Almost everything else she wants to say would be lost in incoherent mumbling and she knows it. The dragon takes a moment to compose herself.)
...and I was so afraid of what you'd think that I never got around to telling you. It's...not fair to you and...I'm sorry.
[All things considered, it probably would have been a harder blow were it not for the fact that he had technically seen her before, however unknowing he may have been at the time.
But the whole thing just stung, and it stung squarely atop an long-sore spot to boot. Doggone it, he was so sick of being left out of the loop...!]
You know what I think! I was as excited as you were to see the dragons! What good was waitin' to tell me gonna--
(Words continue to fail the dragon. She should've trusted him more; that's what it comes down to. Sure, maybe she didn't want to dissuade the thought that he found another who was like him, but that's on her; not Red.
The dragon leans closer towards him, head ducked down to try and minimize the height distance as much as she can. She bumps her nose against him, her snout softly nudging against him.)
[...Doggone it, she probably knew full well he wasn't going to be able to stay angry at her if she kept doing stuff like that. She'd earn a pat on the nose for her efforts, albeit one that seemed a little half-hearted all the same.]
...Doesn't it feel weird? Walkin' around in a different body like that?
I'm used to it. Although I've...been using my natural appearance more and more in Lunatia. Both have their advantages.
(One has a much easier time fitting through doors and sharing a bed with others, for example. She's starting to relax a little from his touch, but knows she's not getting off the hook that easily.)
I was...adopted. The fox shape I usually take is based on one from my adoptive family.
[Yet all he could think about was how much he couldn't stand wearing that human skin of his. Those scant few times he made use of it were far too many; it just wasn't worth the way his whole body seemed to remember being dragged along, blow by blow...]
...Do you want me to try and look for a bigger place?
No, that won't be necessary. There are plenty of places along Lunatia where I can stretch my wings. That...and...I think I'd get self-conscious about having some sort of lair or over-sized home.
