(So the festivities sure...are something. It's hard for the fox to not roam about the area without a blush on her face, one thankfully hidden beneath her fur. Fortunately for her, the smell of octopus is in the air and immediately takes her back to her recent family vacation. Ah, kraken meat sure is nice...
She'll definitely settle for octopus, indulging on a few goodies until she finds herself sampling the chocolate fountain. Just a little of it couldn't hurt, right? She's enjoying a little bit of everything, get a good taste for what's to offer....
So hey, that sure is a fox lady just. Walking up alongside you, trying to hold your hand with a soft smile on her face.)
I think I'm starting to like this place...what about you?
Day 3-☤
(Matilda heard what was happening from the announcement and knew she couldn't just hide away from it. Odd that this all came up shortly after a celebrations about octopi, but she can't think about coincidences for long; time won't allow for that. As much as she'd like to combat the threats directly, there's a greater problem at hand: the people at risk. Prismals to Moonblessed are all getting caught in these vines and they seem fairly resilient and her magic alone may not be enough to take them on, unless she wants to get caught, too.
At the very least, the lab results made at least some people aware of her draconic DNA.
There's an additional peculiar sight among the plant rampaging through the city. A dragon with scales like windows into the galaxy itself can be seen soaring through the city, flying to and fro with the intent of battling against the vines. When not ripping through vines with her claws or using acidic breath to eat away at the plant life, she's primarily escorting people to safety on her back, her size letting her comfortably carry several at a time. Maybe your character is one such person being taken to safety or you're just seeing this all play out. She's easy enough to wave down, but with all of the commotion, she can't stick around for long.)
(The dragon's amused smirk is paired with a rolling of her eyes during Matt's backpedaling. It's kind of adorable, really, and she can't remember the last time anyone fawned over her like this. Still, at least he tried to give a valid reason for it, which it was.
With a sigh, the dragon lowers herself down enough for him to climb aboard.)
[ To his credit? He tries to stifle the giddy scream that bubbles up in his throat! He really does. Sure, he has to clear his throat two or three more times, but eventually he manages. ]
Oh! [ His voice still wavers a little, cracking from his glee. ] What a coincidence, I'm Matt. [ Hold on. Give him a second to climb onto her back.
A couple of seconds.
He's never done this before, excuse him. ]
Sorry, sorry... Anyway, Matt? Matilda? It's like destiny!
(Fortunately, she decides to give him a lift. Her tail briefly curls around him to lift him up and make the rest of this less embarrassing a little easier for him.)
You don't have to try so hard, you know.
(It's said with a smile while looking back at him. God, he's even more of a dork than Gil...)
I suggest you hold onto...something.
(On one hand, she's not one of those overly spiky dragons, so that's not a concern. On the other, she has to be careful once her wings flap and the dragon starts taking off. It'll be easier once they're properly in the air, but so far, so good!)
[ ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod He could die happy right then and there. Hopefully, she doesn't notice the way he hugs her tail as it wraps around him. ]
Wh- I'm sure I have no idea what you mean.
[ Okay, now he can just die. Be cool, Matt! He mentally chides himself as he holds onto one of her spines? Spikes? And squeezes his thighs around her not like that. God, he wishes he actually took his parents up on that equestrian camp offer. ]
(Fortunately, she does not notice him hugging her tail. It's probably easier to hug her neck as she takes off and that she does feel. It's definitely understandable and nothing she minds, especially once she's high enough to take off.)
In any case, these plants are dangerously persistent. There haven't been any sign of them relenting, have there?
(Carrying Matt around has the added bonus of making chroma, so Tilly's starting to feel better already. A very different for her perking up because of this, but hey)
(She's flying closer towards the buildings to help him get a good angle, circling an area and following up his laser blasts with fire magic. Fortunately, the vines can't reach high enough to grab Matt, so the dragon can bat away any that try to get close to her.)
They're hunting for chroma. The excess from our arrival must've forced an overgrowth and now it wants more to maintain itself, even if it has to tear down the entire city.
(And the two of them are practically beacons of the stuff right now...)
Not necessarily plants, though there are a few overgrown weeds to trim back home.
(Must be something about the neon theme and the action around her leaving her to spout such a one-liner. Odd, really.
But clarification will have to wait; there are still plants being ripped to shreds by those magical bullets and Tilly's following them up with a healthy breath of flame to continue driving them back.)
[ Clarification is always a fun time; once they clear out this mess, he'll be glad to hear all about it.
But for now, they have some ugly, angry vines to kill so he lets that go for a bit. Specifically targeting the larger tendrils that keep trying to flank his new dragon pal, Xigbar keeps them off her back while she torches the main body.
Or at least this part of the main body. In the distance, he can see a few others bursting up from beneath the concrete - a bad sign. ]
Yo! We got a few more offshoots cropping up nearby. How far do you think that fire of yours can travel?
(The dragon looks up at Xigbar's warning, gritting her teeth as even more vines start to surface. Where the Hell do they keep coming from? They won't get far treating the symptoms rather than the cause itself.)
Not that far; we'll need to reposition.
(If they get to the new ones quickly enough, it should be easier to deal with than these. The dragon's wings start lifting her upward as raises her claws, concentrating a large orb of flame over her head. With a wave forward, Tilly waves farewell with an explosive Fireball. She hovers closer towards the building.)
[ The sewer is definitely the Main Problem here, but he doesn't think there's much they can do about that from here. Not without taking care of this mess first.
At any rate, he's not about to argue with a dragon so when she invites him to ride her, naturally, he hops right on.
He lets out a soft 'tch'. ]
Well, this is a mess.
[ He reloads the bullets in his guns and sets his sights below. ]
(The dragon ponders this as she carries them both towards the new vines.)
First, we suppress the vines sprouting through the streets. From there, we'll have to go underground to burn the roots. Without clearing out the vines first, they can attack anything and anyone in range.
(Just the ones in this area, at least. Take back parts of the city sector by sector, try not to make too much of a mess. Keyword: try. Tilly's breath of stellar flame makes short work of the new vines, though it might leave the streets smoldering for a while. Could be worse...?)
(A fair question, really. She can't imagine Lunatia built its waterways and sewers with adult dragons in mind. Tilly's still offers the man a smile.)
I can make it fit.
(It'll be soon before she explains how she plans to make that work; his attacks and her magic are making short work of the vines that just appeared. Little bastards didn't have enough time to grow into a menace like the initial ones Xigbar's been dealing with. There's a nod of appreciate for his cover fire and she's responding with her own fire magic to torch what remains of that cluster.)
(First creature, now mortal. This is someone she's gonna have to be patient with, isn't she? Fortunately, they're already working together, so with a nod, Matilda sets her focus on the entangled building. She doesn't want to cause too much destruction when the plant is doing enough of that on its own, so she casts beams of fire towards the tendrils with Scorching Ray. Their precise aim should help burn them off and not cause too much damage to the building itself.)
They're searching everywhere for Chroma. I hope there's no one still in there...
[That damned Chroma. Everytime he hears of it, it makes his eyes roll. Really, how can these idiot mortals expect him to produce this matter to guarantee their existence. How dare they ask something like that of a god!
All of this makes no sense at all.
Yet, he takes notice of her abilities. It does speed up this tedious process of cutting down these vines.]
Aim at that group over there.
[He gestures to a small lump of them on their left.]
If they grow too big it might be problematic.
[The tone of his voice is a commanding one.]
I think most of the mortals have escaped. It would be quite odd for them to not prefer their survival above everything else.
(It sure didn't give Lunatia a choice. Just three days after all of the so-called Moonblessed showed up, too. What are the odds that they'll be recruited for the reconstruction efforts?
Provided there's enough of the city left over, anyway.
The group Zamasu points out seems...pretty close to each other. And small. Best to take it out quickly and not leave them surrounded. The Tilly decides to focus a Fireball spell on them, the orb of flame briefly overhead before being thrown forward and exploding around them. She takes a moment to glance around and observe the vines in doubt.)
Does it seems like its growth is slowing down to you? I can't really tell.
(She has to agree with taking down the roots, wherever they are. It might keep them from coming back to an area, if they're lucky. However, the dragon can't...really...ignore that line in particular. He sure is feeling some type of way and she shoots him a look.)
Do you...need to get something off your chest? You seem to have a lot on your mind.
(Can't blame him for that, really. Even Tilly's still getting used to this place and that's not gonna happen while the plant is running rampant. running ramplant
Still, he has the right idea. She'll touch back down onto the ground and aim her flame breath lower, right were the vines breach the ground.)
This world is troubling me, too; there hasn't been enough time to get acclimated and here we are. Still...a new world can provide all new possibilities; I'm sure there's something worthwhile past the excessive greenery.
[If Zamasu would be into puns he'd give that one two thumbs up. Unfortunately he has the sense of humor of a brick.
Zamasu keeps cutting the vines so there's a better view on the plant below.]
I do not agree to that. They seem to force me to act in a certain way. No filthy mortal gets to command a god in such a way. [That, and he wonders when his master allows him to return. It could not be that he means that his apprentice needs to learn and experience copulation. After all, that is not something Kais are used to...at all.] I will help them with their...problem but then I expect to be allowed to return.
[He is 100% serious. He expects this. Simply because he's a god and gods deserve a certain treatment.]
(Either he's incredibly narcissistic or he's telling the truth. This world's attracting all types, isn't it?
There's still the plants to deal with and she's assisting his assault with fire magic to try and get to the plant itself, but Tilly's interested in learning why he hates mortals so much.)
The plant is a by-product of this world's real problem. The chroma shortage is a long term goal with us as a long term solution. I don't think they mean to disrespect you, but I don't expect we can return home after dealing with this problem.
[Zamasu straightens his back a little when she asks that. Because, yes, he is a god. And yes, he is somewhat narcissistic.]
A god.
[Really, he wants to elaborate about how superior he is to mere mortals but this is not the time for that. Even though he isn't quite sure if his master is still watching he does not want to give in to his misanthropic tendencies.
And, well...no, mortals are a by-product of this world.]
And thus they prefer me to copulate. A ritual completely irrelevant to me. [He pulls a face. The sheer idea of it is appalling. That, and he has no idea how it works.] They created their own problem. [Zamasu sighs and casually blasts at one of the vines.] They behave as if we are the ones containing chroma.
(A god. This...really isn't the time to debate that or appear faithless; this needs to be handled delicately.)
Not just contain; we create chroma. "Moonblessed" they call us...because the moons, their gods, grant us that ability. To encourage us towards such acts is part of their religion, how I believe they show respect to their gods. Anything short may be seen as disrespectful in their pantheon.
(Emphasis on "their" pantheon. Admittedly, it all sounds like things some form of fertility or love god may request and none from home come to mind. Either way, it sure is an introduction to another culture.
With the two combining their efforts, the vines are very nearly wiped out from the area. Another follow-up of Scorching Ray burns away the remainders. The dragon raises one of the same fingers, this time without magic.)
And for what it's worth, any sort of physical interaction creates chroma. Even a handshake will suffice.
[That is an...odd way to look at it. Kais have never been part of a religion or a cult. And he does understand the concept of mortals worshipping minor gods and fake gods. Some just gathered in temples to listen to speeches about their god. Others were more rigorous...
And normally he does not really believe anything mortals tell him. But this isn't a very bad theory.
Here he is...a god blessed by other gods being worshipped my mortals because of an ability to produce chroma.]
Respect goes both ways.
[And in some sort of way they do manage to clear a large part of their surroundings while working together.]'
Maybe not, but every little bit adds up. I think that sounds like a fair trade: embrace their culture while they respect your wishes.
(The Prismals seem open enough to accept that much. There'll be plenty of others who can create chroma through sex; it's all going towards the same goal, so it doesn't matter who creates the most. Not to her, anyway.
By now, the local plants are all dealt with, so they have this much room to breathe and plan their next move.)
If they can't accept that, then you're justified in thinking they're ungrateful.
I have not spoken about embracing their culture. There is a midway in this. I will respect their culture and they will respect my wishes.
[He cannot see himself embrace any of this culture. And without him knowing he says the same thing Matilda is thinking.]
From what I know, most mortals possess a certain drive to procreate. They will take care of this Chroma. [Yet he is unsure what role he wants to have in all of this. He wants this to end and to go back to his master.]
If they cannot accept that they will suffer the consequences.
